Israel urges Spain and Ireland to accept displaced Palestinians

SUMMARY

Israel is urging Spain and Ireland to accept Palestinian refugees as part of a plan for Gazans to leave voluntarily.

Following Trump's proposal to transform Gaza into a resort area, Defense Minister Israel Katz has directed the IDF to facilitate departures from the Gaza Strip. Katz emphasized that countries like Spain and Ireland are obligated to accept residents from Gaza, calling potential refusal hypocritical.

He noted willingness from other nations like Canada to take in Gazans. However, Spain's foreign minister rejected Katz's suggestion, asserting that "Gazans’ land is Gaza and Gaza must be part of the future Palestinian state."
