Trump considers paying 'Greenlanders' to join the US

U.S. officials are considering lump sum payments to Greenlanders to encourage their secession from Denmark and potential union with the U.S. Proposed payments could range from $10,000 to $100,000 per person, despite Denmark's assertion that Greenland is not for sale.

Greenland's Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen criticized U.S. officials, stating, "Enough is enough... No more fantasies about annexation." European leaders, including Denmark, reiterated that decisions regarding Greenland's future belong to its people and Denmark.

The U.S. aims to acquire Greenland for its strategic importance and mineral resources. Discussions include a Compact of Free Association, which would require Greenland to separate from Denmark. While many Greenlanders support independence, they are cautious about joining the U.S.
