Multiple earthquakes hit Nellis Air Force Base known for testing nuclear weapons

Multiple earthquakes struck near a military base in Nevada known for nuclear testing. On June 5, 2025, the US Geological Survey (USGS) reported three tremors, with a magnitude of 3.3 at 9:52 AM ET, located 14 miles from Nellis Air Force Base.

Following the Cold War, nuclear tests there ceased in 1992 due to environmental and health concerns. Reports indicated shaking felt in Las Vegas, but there were no injuries or damage. Tremors of 2.5 or less often go unnoticed, while those between 2.5 and 5.4 may cause minor damage.
