CIA: Iran's at the nuclear goal line — and wants to score

CIA Director John Ratcliffe has informed colleagues he believes Iran is pursuing nuclear weapon capabilities. He compared the situation to football players at the 1-yard line attempting to score a touchdown. This challenges U.S. intelligence claims that Iran is not actively developing a nuclear weapon.

Despite Iran's violations of the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and its stockpiling of enriched uranium, intelligence assessments have downplayed the threat. Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard testified that Iran's leadership has not ordered weaponization.

Ratcliffe's views come amid disagreements with Gabbard's testimony and reports of President Trump's consideration of military action against Iran’s nuclear sites.
