Nuclear ICBM test

Map shows first US nuclear missile test since Trump orders new tests

SUMMARY

The U.S. plans to test an unarmed intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) after a directive from President Trump. The test comes as tensions increase with Russia and China, both of which are continuing their own missile testing.

Energy Secretary Chris Wright confirmed this testing will not include detonations but will ensure missile functionality. The upcoming launch of a Minuteman III ICBM from Vandenberg Space Force Base is scheduled. It’s expected to reach Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands.

Military officials emphasize these tests are routine and not in direct response to global events. "This test is part of the nation's ongoing commitment to maintaining a credible deterrent," said the Air Force Global Strike Command.
