Jerusalem patriarch, churches say Christian Zionism threatens Christianity

Senior Christian leaders in Jerusalem have warned that outside interference, particularly from "Christian Zionism" and certain political actors in Israel, threatens the unity and future of Christianity in the Holy Land. They claim that these damaging ideologies mislead the public and harm the Christian community.

Church leaders are concerned about Israel's policies, including land confiscation and restrictions on church property, which jeopardize one of the world's oldest Christian communities. They highlight that support for Israel from some U.S. evangelical Christians translates into donations that entrench occupation and undermine Palestinian Christians.

Additionally, Israeli restrictions on West Bank teachers hinder Christian education in East Jerusalem, exacerbating challenges for the community. The Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs condemned these actions, emphasizing they violate international law and target Palestinian education.
