Discord says 70,000 users may have had their government IDs leaked in breach

Discord reported that about 70,000 users may have had their government ID photos exposed due to a breach involving a third-party customer service provider. Spokesperson Nu Wexler clarified that attackers are spreading false information as part of an extortion attempt. Wexler stated, “this was not a breach of Discord, but rather a third-party service we use.”

Discord is contacting all affected users and is collaborating with law enforcement. Other potentially compromised data includes names, usernames, emails, and credit card details. The company vows not to reward the perpetrators for their illegal actions.
