Met Police rule out investigation into claims Andrew ordered smear campaign

SUMMARY

The Metropolitan Police will not investigate claims that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor sought a smear campaign against Virginia Giuffre in 2011. Reports suggested Andrew provided Giuffre's personal information to his bodyguard for this purpose.

An email obtained by the Mail On Sunday allegedly exposed how Andrew asked his bodyguard, paid for by the met, to find out information on Virginia Giuffre and that he provided them with Giuffre's personal information to his bodyguard for this purpose.

Central Specialist Crime Commander Ella Marriott stated that after reviewing the claims, there was no evidence of criminal misconduct. The Met Police previously assessed related issues involving Jeffrey Epstein and found they were primarily outside the UK. The decision not to proceed with an investigation was upheld after multiple reviews. The Met remains open to new evidence but has received none to warrant reopening the case.
