Poland launches military training for all citizens

SUMMARY

Poland is launching a new military training program called "At Readiness," aimed at preparing around 400,000 citizens by 2026. This initiative arises from increased defense spending due to the Russia-Ukraine war.

It will be voluntary, targeting schoolchildren to seniors, and will include courses in security, survival, medical skills, and cyber hygiene. Deputy Defence Minister Cezary Tomczyk noted that about 20,000 individuals will be trained in just November and December, with a total of 100,000 in various training forms.

The program aims to enhance citizen resilience and improve reserve readiness. Prime Minister Donald Tusk first announced it in March to address security concerns.
