Hong Kong stocks end 13.22% down, worst since 1997 Asian financial crisis

SUMMARY

Hong Kong shares fell over 13 percent on Monday, marking their worst day in nearly three decades. The Hang Seng Index dropped 3,021.51 points to 19,828.30, the biggest fall since the 1997 Asian financial crisis. The Shanghai Composite Index also suffered, losing 245.43 points or 7.34 percent, closing at 3,096.58.

This decline was driven by China's response to Donald Trump's tariffs, escalating trade war concerns and fears of a recession.

Taiwan stocks plummet in biggest one-day drop on record. Circuit breakers triggered for TSMC, Foxconn.
