China says it is 'ready for war' with America

SUMMARY

China has declared it is "ready for war" with the US amid rising tensions and increased defense spending. In response to US tariffs, Chinese representatives said they are prepared for “a tariff war, a trade war or any other type of war.”

The US imposed 20 percent tariffs due to China's alleged failure to curb fentanyl trafficking. In retaliation, China plans to raise defense spending by 7.2 percent and introduce tariffs of 10 to 15 percent on certain US imports starting March 10.

China’s premier, Li Qiang, reaffirmed efforts to modernize its military by 2027, emphasizing increased military training and readiness to protect national interests.
