'blood worm moon'
Full blood moon arrives with a lunar eclipse Thursday
SUMMARY
A total lunar eclipse known as the "Blood Worm Moon" will occur on March 13-14, 2025, making the moon appear red. Peak illumination will happen at 2:55 a.m. ET on March 14, with the best viewing time for the red moon at 2:59 a.m.
The eclipse will be visible primarily from North and South America, with parts of Europe and Africa also catching glimpses. Observers can enhance their view with binoculars or telescopes and should find a dark area free from bright lights.
The term "Blood Worm Moon" refers to both the lunar event and the arrival of spring, as earthworms emerge during this time.
