Lostprophets singer Ian Watkins dies after attack in prison

Ian Watkins, the former singer of Lostprophets, has died after an attack in prison. The 48-year-old was serving a 29-year sentence for serious sexual offences against children and babies. He had been previously stabbed in 2023 during a hostage situation with other inmates.

Watkins was sentenced in 2013 after admitting to 13 sex offences, including the attempted rape of a fan's baby. He was described by police as a "committed, organised paedophile." His criminal activities included encouraging abuse through webcams and possessing child pornography. A judge referred to his actions as “plumbed new depths of depravity.”
