CIA seeks informants in North Korea, Iran, and China

The CIA is actively recruiting informants in China, Iran, and North Korea. They have used social media platforms to share secure contact methods in Mandarin, Farsi, and Korean. This follows a successful Russian recruitment campaign after the Ukraine invasion.

A CIA spokesperson stated, "We want to make sure individuals in other authoritarian regimes know that we're open for business."

Despite the challenges posed by heavy surveillance in these countries, US intelligence remains hopeful. CIA Deputy Director David Cohen mentioned there are "plenty of people" inside China who are dissatisfied with the Xi regime.

Critics question the effectiveness of this campaign, particularly in North Korea where internet access is limited.
