Spain closes its airspace to all US aircraft involved in Iran war

Spain has banned all US military aircraft involved in the Iran war from using its airspace and military bases. This decision stems from strained relations with the United States, following President Trump's threats to cut trade with Spain over its refusal to allow the use of bases for Iran operations.

Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares stated that the ban reflects the majority sentiment of Spaniards opposing the war, aligning with UN principles. The complete ban extends the previous restrictions at the Rota and Morón bases.

Defense Minister Margarita Robles emphasized that these restrictions were clearly communicated to US forces and described the war as "profoundly illegal and unjust." The ban complicates US military logistics, given Spain's strategic location for flights to the Middle East.
