Mexico expels 26 cartel figures to US

SUMMARY

Mexico is expelling 26 high-ranking cartel figures to the U.S. as part of a deal with the Trump administration. American authorities are increasing pressure on criminal networks involved in drug trafficking. Those being transferred include Abigael González Valencia, linked to "Los Cuinis," and Roberto Salazar, implicated in the 2008 murder of a sheriff's deputy.

The transfers were confirmed by Mexico’s Attorney General's Office, and the U.S. has promised not to seek the death penalty in these cases. This follows a previous expulsion of 29 cartel figures in February, including drug lord Rafael Caro Quintero.
