Trump recalls dozens of ambassadors in foreign policy shake-up

Donald Trump has recalled numerous ambassadors as part of a significant foreign policy shake-up. Officials from at least 29 countries were notified that their tenures would end in January. The president aims to surround himself with personnel aligned with his “America First” agenda. Most affected diplomats were appointed during the Biden administration.

Africa is notably impacted, losing ambassadors from 13 countries. Changes also affect six in Asia, several in Europe, and a few in the Middle East and Central America. The recalls have raised concerns among politicians and the diplomat union.

Additionally, Trump appointed Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry as special envoy to Greenland, reigniting interest in the territory's status.
