US DHS and the DOJ kept tabs on foreign nationals visiting Musk's properties

SUMMARY

Several U.S. agencies investigated foreign nationals visiting Elon Musk's properties in 2022 and 2023. The Department of Homeland Security and the Justice Department monitored these visitors, concerned about potential influence on Musk, specifically from countries in Eastern Europe and elsewhere, who might have been trying to influence him.

Despite the investigation, no charges were filed, and its current status is unclear. Musk has been a close adviser to President Trump, who has raised alarms about foreign influence and imposed travel restrictions on several countries.

Concerns over Musk's foreign connections led his super PAC to implement vetting procedures for meeting attendees.

SpaceX lawyers advised Musk against seeking a higher security clearance due to his foreign associations, despite his existing top-secret clearance.
