EU adopts 18th package of economic and individual measures

SUMMARY

The EU has adopted its 18th sanctions package against Russia, aiming to weaken its military capabilities and economic stability. This package targets Russia's energy, banking, and military sectors, with measures that include lowering the oil price cap and banning imports of refined petroleum products made from Russian crude oil.

The EU is also sanctioning 55 individuals and entities, bringing the total over 2,500 to those involved in undermining Ukraine's sovereignty. It introduces a full transaction ban on 22 additional Russian banks and tightens restrictions on military suppliers, including entities from China and Belarus.

Furthermore, the EU is enhancing accountability measures related to the deportation of Ukrainian children and extending sanctions to Belarus. These actions convey that Europe will continue supporting Ukraine until hostilities cease.
