Gerald R. Ford Carrier Strike Group arrives in waters near Latin America

SUMMARY

The USS Gerald R. Ford Carrier Strike Group entered the U.S. Southern Command area on November 11 to support efforts against transnational criminal organizations and narco-terrorism. This deployment enhances U.S. capacity to monitor and disrupt illicit activities that threaten homeland security.

With over 4,000 Sailors and multiple tactical aircraft, the USS Gerald R. Ford can launch and recover aircraft day or night. The strike group reinforces existing forces in the area, including the Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group.

“In the precise use of our forces, we stand ready to combat the transnational threats,” said Adm. Alvin Holsey. The deployment emphasizes the U.S. commitment to regional stability and security in Latin America and the Caribbean.
