RFK Jr. moves to restrict 'gender-affirming' care for minors

SUMMARY

Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced plans to restrict gender-affirming care for minors, stating that “sex-rejecting procedures are neither safe nor effective treatment for children with gender dysphoria.”

Initiatives include prohibiting hospitals from participating in Medicare and Medicaid if they provide such procedures and stopping the marketing of breast binders to children.

Kennedy also highlighted a lack of evidence supporting puberty blockers and surgeries, calling gender-affirming care “malpractice.”

New York Attorney General Letitia James condemned these actions, stating they would harm adolescents.
