US helped lull Iran into belief no attack imminent
Israel is launching an operation to "eliminate" Iran's nuclear and missile capabilities, expected to last several days or weeks. Prime Minister Netanyahu confirmed initial attempts included targeting around 25 nuclear scientists, with at least two reported dead.
The operation involves air strikes and ground actions by Mossad on missile and defense sites. Israeli military concerns stemmed from Iran's growing missile arsenal and upcoming nuclear advancements.
Despite some tensions with the U.S., Israeli officials claim coordination with Washington occurred. Trump initially expressed opposition but later acknowledged he knew about the attack, emphasizing U.S. non-involvement.
Further stating that Trump approved the Iran attack, "We had a clear U.S. green light." Adding, reports of Trump restraining Israel were planted to deceive, while Trump and Netanyahu coordinated the attack in private.
The extent of U.S. support remains unclear.
