Smoke rises near cargo port of Zaporizhian nuclear power plant

A fire has broken out near the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant in Ukraine, generating significant concern. Although reports indicate the blaze is at a nearby cargo port, fears remain due to the ongoing Russian occupation and hazardous conditions, including coastline mining that complicates emergency responses.

Ukrainian media recently reported damage to a crisis center essential for the plant's safety, although no injuries occurred. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) highlighted the precarious safety status at the site, noting a recent incident where the plant lost all off-site power for hours, relying on emergency generators.
