Canada bans more types of firearms and proposes donating guns to Ukraine

Canada is banning an additional 324 types of firearms, which officials say are suited for battle, not for hunters or sport shooters. This announcement comes as part of ongoing efforts after a 2020 ban on over 1,500 firearms, which has since grown to over 2,000.

Public Safety Minister Dominic LeBlanc stated, “This means these firearms can no longer be used.” The Canadian government is also planning to donate some of these weapons to Ukraine to aid in their defense against Russia.

Defense Minister Bill Blair emphasized the importance of assisting Ukraine. Survivors of past shootings support the ban, while opposition leader Pierre Poilievre criticized the measure as an attack on law-abiding gun owners.
