Carney visits and tells Ukraine 'Canada will be there' to enforce Russia Peace Deal

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney emphasized that peace in Ukraine requires strength. He visited Kyiv for the first time since being elected and spoke alongside President Zelenskiy on Ukraine’s Independence Day. Carney described Russia's invasion as a "horrific act of aggression" and stated that any peace deal with Russia must come with security guarantees and bolstered defenses for Ukraine.

Canada has pledged C$2 billion in support, including military equipment and aid for rebuilding. Carney noted the importance of training Ukrainian forces and highlighted ongoing challenges in reaching a peace agreement due to Russia's demands. He also plans to promote Canada’s defense sector in Europe following his visit to Kyiv.
