ATM jackpotting gang accused of unleashing Ploutus malware across US

A Venezuelan gang, Tren de Aragua (TdA), faces serious charges for allegedly deploying Ploutus malware on ATMs across the U.S., siphoning millions illegally. Recent indictments in Nebraska target 54 alleged members linked to ATM jackpotting attacks.

TdA members reportedly inspect ATMs for security before tampering with them to install malware, allowing the machines to dispense cash. Since 2020, over $40 million has been stolen via similar methods.

The U.S. government asserts that TdA is a "ruthless terrorist organization" perpetuating violence and fear. Enhanced efforts to crack down on the gang resulted in multiple indictments across various states, highlighting ongoing criminal activities beyond ATM thefts.
