Louvre detectives believe heist was inside job
SUMMARY
Detectives investigating the £76m heist at the Louvre have found evidence of an inside job. Digital forensics suggest a security guard communicated with the thieves before the theft, providing sensitive information about the museum's security.
The gang, posing as maintenance workers, successfully entered the Apollo gallery and stole eight crown jewels. More than 150 DNA samples have been recovered, and CCTV footage is helping trace the robbers' escape route.
Paris prosecutors are exploring all possibilities, including museum complicity. The Louvre has moved its valuables to the Bank of France for protection as investigations continue.
