'Block Everything'
France burns: Violent protests break out across the country
SUMMARY
France is experiencing widespread protests as part of a campaign called "Bloquons tout" or "Block Everything," aimed at opposing government austerity measures.
Protests erupted in several cities, including Paris, Bordeaux, and Marseille, with demonstrators blocking roads and setting up barricades.
Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau reported nearly 200 arrests, asserting that many detainees threatened public order.
Tensions escalated as protesters clashed with police, using tear gas to disperse crowds.
The movement, organized primarily through social media, is reminiscent of the Yellow Vest protests from 2018.
With 80,000 security forces deployed, the situation remains volatile as further protests are anticipated.
