Trump's US border crossings plummet to historic lows

SUMMARY

In June, U.S. Customs and Border Protection reported a historic low of 25,228 encounters at the border, nationwide, including just 8,024 apprehensions. CBP Commissioner Rodney Scott noted increased effectiveness in combating illegal crossings and drug trafficking. "CBP is delivering results on every front," he stated.

At the southern border, June recorded 6,072 apprehensions, 15% lower than March's record. June 28 had the lowest daily apprehensions at 136. Drug seizures, including fentanyl, meth, and heroin, rose significantly. The Trump administration's policies drove these declines in crossings and increased seizures.

Despite the decrease in crossings, protests and violence against immigration enforcement continue, prompting new legislative measures.
