Pope Francis: Intentionally rejecting and hurting migrants 'is a grave sin'

Pope Francis declared that intentionally harming, by rejecting or otherwise hurting, migrants "is a grave sin." Speaking to pilgrims in St. Peter’s Square, he pointed out the dire conditions faced by migrants and noted that many deaths could be avoided. He stated, "There are those who work systematically... to repel migrants," stressing that such actions are sinful.

The Pope shared a poignant story about a family who perished in the desert while trying to reach Europe. He emphasized the importance of providing safe routes for migrants fleeing violence and disasters. He urged cooperation to combat human trafficking and reminded everyone to pray for migrants.
