Netflix is using startup Runway AI's video tools for production
Netflix is testing AI video generation software from Runway AI as part of its content production. Disney is also exploring Runway’s technology but has no immediate plans to integrate it.
The use of such AI tools has sparked concerns among film and TV professionals about job security. Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos confirmed the use of AI to create special effects more efficiently. For instance, they utilized AI for a collapsed building scene in "El Eternaut." Despite the controversy, AI promises to streamline production processes.
Runway AI is gaining traction with significant investment and partnerships, including a deal with Lionsgate. Its new AI model, Act-Two, aims to simplify animation and motion capture. Other AI startups are also vying for a place in the entertainment industry, seeking partnerships with major studios.
