Elon Musk's X to shut operations in Brazil amid bitter legal fight

X has shut down operations in Brazil due to legal conflicts with Supreme Court Judge Alexandre de Moraes regarding disinformation. The closure is immediate, but Brazilian users can still access the platform.

Moraes ordered X to block accounts accused of spreading false information and hate speech, particularly linked to former President Jair Bolsonaro. Musk criticized Moraes, stating that the judge's demands would force X to break multiple laws. He deemed the situation shameful and expressed that “the decision to close the X office in Brazil was difficult.”

Moraes stated, “Freedom of expression doesn’t mean freedom of aggression.”
