Trump says Israel is losing control of US Congress

Trump revealed a seismic shift in Israel’s influence over Congress during a Daily Caller interview. “Israel was the strongest lobby I’ve ever seen. They had total control over Congress, and now they don’t,” he stated, noting a decline from its peak 15 years ago. He attributed this to vocal critics like “AOC plus three” and others, who have altered the political landscape.

A March Pew Research Center poll shows 53% of U.S. adults view Israel unfavorably, up from 42% in 2022. Among young Republicans under 50, 50% share this view, a rise from 35%.

Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Trump ally, labeled Israel’s actions in Gaza as “genocide.” Steven Bannon, another supporter, called Netanyahu’s camp untrustworthy, questioning Israel’s status as a U.S. ally. Trump acknowledged Israel’s public relations struggles, stating, “They may be winning the war, but they’re not winning the world of public relations.”

He referenced the October 7th attack, saying, “October 7th was a truly horrible day,” and criticized deniers of the event. Despite his support for Israel, Trump’s remarks expose a supposed fracturing of Israel's once-ironclad congressional dominance, driven by shifting public and political sentiments.
