RAF on alert over Putin sabotage threat to key gas pipelines

Fears of Russian sabotage on Britain's gas supply have led to increased surveillance of vital pipelines to Norway.

Aerial reconnaissance by the RAF has intensified, with nine Poseidon P-8 aircraft stationed at Lossiemouth, alongside nine from a US squadron.

This marks the first American military presence in the UK since the Cold War.

German Poseidon P-8s are also operating from Lossiemouth.

The aircraft monitor various maritime activities, including ships and submarines.

UK security experts have been briefing energy executives on emerging threats, especially following incidents involving Russian-controlled ships linked to subsea damage.

Officials worry that Moscow could target pipelines supplying 42% of Britain's gas.
