Met Police chief Sir Mark Rowley admits racism in policing still an issue in London

Met Police chief Sir Mark Rowley acknowledged ongoing racism within policing in London. He stated, “We can't pretend otherwise that we've got a history between policing and black communities where policing has got a lot wrong.”

Rowley emphasized the good people in the force but admitted past actions have caused distrust among black communities. He highlighted that black boys are more likely to die by age 18 compared to white boys, calling it "shameful for the city."

His comments come after a report labeling the Met as institutionally racist and the murder of Sarah Everard by a police officer. Rowley has launched a £366 million plan to reform the Met and rebuild community relations.
