US firm unveils 300-horsepower robot boat to hunt enemy vessels at high speed

Scientific Systems has launched VENOM, a 9-meter autonomous surface drone designed for high-speed maritime operations. This unmanned surface vehicle (sUSV) boasts a 300-horsepower engine, reaching speeds of over 35 knots and a range exceeding 500 nautical miles.

VENOM's software-driven autonomy allows it to navigate complex environments and perform various missions, including surveillance and maritime interdiction. Made from durable, corrosion-resistant high-density polyethylene, VENOM is ready for production and aligns with the US Navy’s growing operational needs.

Chief Executive Kunal Mehra emphasized the significance of software in modern warfare, stating,
