China imposes new duties of up to 43% on EU dairy products
SUMMARY
China has imposed new duties on EU dairy products, reaching as high as 43%. This decision follows an anti-subsidy investigation that started in August 2025. Preliminary evidence suggests that EU dairy imports are subsidized and have harmed China's domestic industry.
A spokesperson from the Chinese Ministry of Commerce stated, "Currently, preliminary evidence indicates that imported dairy products originating from the EU are subsidised, causing substantial injury to the relevant domestic industry in China."
The ad valorem subsidy rate for EU companies is set between 21.9% and 42.7%. This move is part of ongoing trade tensions between China and the EU.
