New Fengyun satellite to boost China's global weather forecasting
SUMMARY
China launched the Fengyun 3H meteorological satellite on September 27 to enhance global weather forecasting and climate monitoring. The satellite, launched by a Long March 4C rocket from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center, carries nine advanced instruments. These include a spectral imager and atmospheric sounders, aiming to improve numerical weather prediction and disaster response capabilities. Since its first satellite in 1988, China has deployed 22 Fengyun satellites. The Long March 4C can deliver payloads to 700 kilometers in sun-synchronous orbit, marking this as the 58th rocket launch in 2025.
