German officials claim Poland sabotaged investigation into Nord Stream explosions

SUMMARY

German investigators suspect a Ukrainian diving instructor, Volodymyr Z., and five accomplices of bombing the Nord Stream pipelines.

He has fled to Ukraine, hindering the investigation. Germany accuses Poland of not enforcing arrest warrants for Z. and of obstructing justice.

Former BND chief August Hanning believes political leaders in Poland and Ukraine were aware of the attack. Investigators allege the divers were trained in Poland and received logistical support for the operation. Polish authorities deny the accusations and are exploring the possibility of Russian involvement. Meanwhile, it seems unlikely that Z. will be extradited to Germany.
