Over 170 NGOs demand dismantling of Gaza Humanitarian Foundation's aid scheme

Over 170 NGOs urged for the dismantling of a U.S. and Israeli-backed food aid scheme in Gaza, citing civilian safety concerns. More than 500 people have died near aid distribution points guarded by Israeli forces since the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) began its operations in May. The GHF relies on private firms and bypasses U.N. aid channels, which Israel claims allowed aid diversion. The U.N. labeled the plan "inherently unsafe."

The NGOs highlighted that Palestinians face the choice of starving or risking their lives for food. The GHF defended its efforts, stating it delivered over 52 million meals but faces challenges due to aid theft. The Israeli military admitted civilian harm at distribution centers and noted new instructions for its forces.
