Official ICE data shows average of 275,000 deportations anually

SUMMARY

ICE data from FOIA requests show 145,419 illegal immigrants were deported from detention centers between January 20 and July 31, 2025, including self-deportations. June saw a peak of 27,970 removals. Self-deportations rose from 592 in February to 4,241 in July, facilitated by the CBP Home app.

Compared to July 2024 under Biden, with 25,000 removals, July 2025 had 23,250. Most deportees were Mexican, with 12,211 removed in May. Over 60,000 deportees had no criminal convictions or charges, though many were suspected or known criminals.

At current rates, the Trump admin will deport 276,207 illegal immigrants annually, or 1.1 million over four years.

"More generally, there has been a significant increase in interior enforcement and in corresponding removals under Trump compared to the exact same period under Biden," said Jessica Vaughan. However, David Bier noted, "total removals are not much higher than they were last year."

The Trump administration’s Project Homecoming offers a $1,000 exit bonus and a plane ticket for self-deportation. Despite this, only 145,419 removals occurred in six months, with 38 percent of voluntary departures from the border, up from 20 percent under Biden.
