New Orleans Archdiocese proposes $230 million settlement in clergy sex abuse case

They stated, "The 'power of no' forced the Archdiocese to come up with significantly more money."

Survivors have until late October to vote on the agreement, which could lead to payments starting next year if approved by two-thirds. If rejected, they may face lengthy legal battles. Archbishop Gregory Aymond expressed hope for a resolution that benefits survivors, while some survivors argue monetary compensation can't equate to the lasting impacts of abuse.
