Trump taps Palantir to compile data on Americans

SUMMARY

The Trump administration is expanding federal surveillance capabilities through increased reliance on Palantir’s data analysis technology. President Trump’s March executive order mandates data sharing across federal agencies, enabling the potential creation of a centralized database of Americans’ personal information. Palantir’s Foundry platform, now deployed in at least four agencies, including the Department of Homeland Security and the Health and Human Services Department, facilitates the organization and analysis of vast datasets.

The administration has sought access to detailed citizen data, including bank account numbers, student debt amounts, medical claims, and disability status, from government databases. Palantir has secured over $113 million in federal contracts since Trump took office, with ongoing talks to expand its technology to the Social Security Administration and the Internal Revenue Service, according to six government officials and Palantir employees.
