'Trump's vision'
Hegseth ousts Army Chief of Staff Gen. Randy George
SUMMARY
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has asked Army Chief of Staff Gen. Randy George to retire immediately. Hegseth aims to bring in someone aligned with his and President Trump’s vision for the Army. A senior official mentioned, "We are grateful for his service, but it was time for a leadership change in the Army."
George was previously vice chief of staff and served in multiple conflicts since the Gulf War. The vice chief of staff, Gen. Christopher LaNeve, may be considered as his replacement. Hegseth has also removed several senior military officers recently, though sources clarify that George's ousting is not linked to a recent helicopter incident.
