Starmer appoints diversity tsar to advise on knighthoods
SUMMARY
Sir Keir Starmer has appointed Moni Mannings as the head of a new honours diversity and outreach committee to ensure the honours system reflects the diversity of British society.
Mannings, who is also the founder of EPOC, aims to promote the inclusion of people from various backgrounds. The Cabinet Office announced that the committee will work to ensure that honours are awarded to individuals "from all walks of life."
Mannings, a qualified solicitor and OBE recipient, has a five-year term ending in July 2030. She stated, “Recognising excellence from all walks of life isn’t just a symbolic act – it is how we tell our national story.”
