Thieves use drill to steal €30m in German bank heist

Thieves executed a daring heist in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, using a drill to steal an estimated €30 million from Sparkasse bank. The break-in involved accessing over 3,000 safe deposit boxes, which contained cash, gold, and jewelry.

Police learned of the crime after a fire alarm triggered at the bank early Monday. No arrests have been made, and the thieves remain unidentified. Witnesses reported seeing men carrying large bags in a nearby parking garage.

Police are reviewing video footage of a black Audi RS 6 leaving the scene. The bank has informed customers that 95% of safe deposit boxes were compromised and advised them to check their insurance coverage.
