China turns Soviet jets into supersonic drones

China has revived its 1950s Soviet-era fighter jets, specifically the J-6, converting them into combat drones. This development allows for potential mass drone attacks, especially regarding tensions over Taiwan.

With an inventory of about 3,000 J-6s, these unmanned aircraft can carry 550-pound bombs and operate autonomously. Military analysts in Taiwan express concern, fearing swarms of these drones could overwhelm defense systems.

The drones could serve as both strike platforms and decoys, presenting a low-cost option for warfare. China's efforts signal a shift in military strategy, emphasizing the importance of unmanned systems in future conflicts.
