Mobileye to buy humanoid robot maker mentee for $900 million

SUMMARY

Mobileye Global Inc. is acquiring Israeli startup Mentee Robotics for $900 million in a cash-and-stock deal. The agreement includes $612 million in cash and over 26 million shares of Class A stock. The deal is expected to finalize in early 2026 and brings founder Amnon Shashua and his team together, as both companies share leadership.

The acquisition coincides with Mobileye's recent contract with a U.S. automaker to integrate its safety software in 9 million cars. Mentee plans to develop humanoid robots for tasks like assembling cars and aims to reduce costs. Despite the challenges of robot efficiency and production, Mentee hopes to create household humanoids by the decade's end. The startup currently operates independently but will access Mobileye's customer base.
