GM to cut 1,200 jobs at Detroit EV plant, 1,200 more at Tennessee, Ohio battery sites

SUMMARY

General Motors will lay off around 1,200 workers at its Detroit electric vehicle plant due to a shift reduction in response to the declining U.S. electric vehicle market.

Additionally, 550 jobs will be cut at the Ultium Cells battery plant in Ohio, with another 850 workers facing temporary layoffs.

The Tennessee plant for Ultium Cells will also temporarily lay off 700 employees.
