Netherlands starts NATO's new Ukraine weapons finance scheme with $578 million

SUMMARY

The Netherlands will be the first to contribute to NATO's new "Priority Ukraine Requirements List" financing mechanism with a €500 million ($578 million) payment for Ukraine's military needs.

Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans announced that the package includes US weapon systems, such as Patriot parts and missiles.

"This helps Ukraine to defend itself and the rest of Europe against Russian aggression,"

Other NATO allies have also pledged support under this scheme, allowing Ukraine to access US military stocks funded by these contributions. The United States is set to release approximately $500 million in military aid tailored to Ukraine's requirements.
